NEED HELP GETTING YOUR MEMS DEVICE TO MARKET?

Micro-Fabrication Service

Description of Service:

Mezzo provides the complete suite of capabilities to first turn ideas into prototypes and then into products. Mezzo works with its customers to solve the engineering problem associated with the commercialization of MEMS. Mezzo has a very strong background in LIGA, but it also has extensive experience in most micromachining processes.

Mezzo’s product experience include:

  • Micro-fluidics
  • Lab-on-a-chip
  • Thermal systems
  • RF devices
  • Chemical reactors
  • Optical devices
  • Electronic devices
  • Power systems
  • Mechanical systems
  • Electro-magneto devices

Benefits:

  • Low cost.
  • Quick turn around.
  • Experience you can depend on.

Manufacturing Process:

Mezzo offers advanced micro-machining service for a wide range of industries. Mezzo micro-manufacturing capabilities consist of 3 primary processes and numerous additional processes. The three primary processes include lithography (typically x-ray lithography), electro-plating, and micro-molding. The lithography process allows for formation of highly precise micro features over large areas; and with x-ray lithography it is possible to make high aspect ratio features, which are extremely important for controlling the movement of fluids in mechanical devices and optronic applications.

Electroplating allows for formation of metal micro-features that replicate and/or mirror the features created using lithography. While the lithography process is capable of making a wide range of features/parts, it can only be used to make parts out of polymers. The electroplating process is required if the parts are to be made out of metals.

Micro-molding is used to inexpensively replicate micro-features. The x-ray lithography process is typically too expensive to create products in large volume; therefore x-ray lithography is typically used to create a molding tool which is then used to mass produce the devices required for a given application. Mezzo’s ability to use the three primary micro-fabrication processes in combination with more additional traditional manufacturing and micro-fabrication processes, form a unique skill set that has allowed for the creation of revolutionary products that can be reproduced in large volume inexpensively.
